by Sheena Binkley
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Sheree Montgomery has had a lot of experiences in her young life. She became a newspaper owner and recently found out that her biological parents are alive. Feeling betrayed, she questioned if she would ever be worthy of love. Consequently, she doesn't believe in relationships, especially since her biological mother, Shelby, suddenly reappeared in her life. Sheree is doing everything possible to avoid a relationship due to her luck with dating. She wonders if she can give love a shot if only her insecurities weren't standing in her way.

Pedro Gonzalez is living his best life, enjoying his job and loving his family. Despite their issues, they are working through them. With his sister's passing still weighing heavily on his mind, Pedro does what he can to help others by volunteering at the downtown youth center. While volunteering, he encounters his ex-wife, whom he hasn't seen since their mediation years ago. Pedro is attempting to move forward, but will past recollections rekindle former emotions?

Sheree and Pedro have had several encounters since their first meeting at Andie and Dexter’s wedding. They even shared a secret since the wedding, making Pedro want to explore the feelings he has for Sheree. However, Sheree feels she’s not ready to reciprocate, which could lead to Pedro moving in another direction in his love life. Will Sheree be willing to give in to her feelings, or will she let her potential relationship with Pedro slip away?

 Prologue
Sheree
May 2040

I walked out to the gazebo and stared at the beautiful view ahead of me. I took a deep breath and glanced at the clear blue skies and the warm sun, wishing my life could be simpler. So many emotions were going through my mind, especially with my feelings towards Andie and Dexter. I wish I could be happy for them. A tiny part of me was because I offered the venue space that my uncle Eric had since their venue was a scam, but after the stunt they pulled, I didn’t want them to have it, but it was mainly because I was miserable, and I wanted them to feel the same way.
I continued to stare at the sky when I heard someone clearing their throat, interrupting my thoughts. I looked over to see Pedro, the guy I had met at the rehearsal earlier, approaching me. I stared at him, immediately noticing his dark brown eyes, curly brown hair, and chiseled features. He was handsome, but I was not looking for a relationship. The last one I was in, he was in love with someone else, so I could tell relationships weren’t in the cards for me. Besides, I wouldn’t know what to do in one since I was not the relationship type. I didn’t show emotions easily, mainly because of my upbringing.
“I see you needed to get some air, too.”
I smiled. “Just a tad. It was a bit much for me.”
“Me too. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for Dex and Andie. I’m still honored that Dex wants me in his wedding when we barely know each other, but I’m not too keen on romance, especially since mine went south.”
I stared at him, wondering why he told me this when we barely knew each other. “So, you hate romance?”
“I never said that; I just don’t like it.”
“I despise it.”
“I doubt that. I heard you offered this venue to Andie and Dex when they needed it, so you believe in love and romance.”
“My uncle gave it to them. I took it away from them.”
“But you’re here, so that counts for something.”
“Because I was being nosy.”
“I’m sure.”
We stood in silence as I looked at Pedro once more. He stared at me and smiled.
“Since we’re the only single people during this ceremony, maybe we should go together.”
I eyed Pedro and shook my head. “I don’t think so.”
“Why not?”
“I guess you didn’t hear me earlier. I don’t do relationships.”
“I was only suggesting it since neither of us had a date. I wasn’t asking to go as a couple.”
“My answer is still no. Besides, I’m not even a bridesmaid. Andie only asked me to step in because you didn’t have anyone.”
“Ouch.”
“It’s the truth. But I may not even come. There’s no point in me seeing my ex getting married to someone else.”
“You just said you’re happy for them.”
“They’re made for each other. I probably didn’t realize that before, but seeing how they look at each other, their love for each other is real. That’s something I probably wouldn’t know in my life.”
“Don’t rule that out. Love can come to you when you least expect it.”
“That’s the motto you live by?”
“I do. Even when I may have given up, I know it can happen.”
“At least you do because I don’t.”
That’s why I didn’t believe in fairytales or happily ever afters; they’re untrue. It never was and never would be.
Pedro gave me an encouraging glance as I looked towards the sky. My inner calm returned as I thought about Pedro’s theory, wondering if he was right. I wanted to believe him, but, with my luck, I realized it was all a delusion.

Just Us
Forever Love Book 2

Picture

LaToya Hudson and Simon Gibson were acquaintances during their time at Smith University. However, they became close after several encounters in New York. They started dating and eventually became parents. But due to their busy schedules, they haven't had much time to be a couple, which makes them question their future together.

LaToya has always been afraid of commitment because of the issues she experienced with her parents while growing up. Although they are committing to their marriage, it is also due to her father's illness. LaToya is going through a difficult time, with her new job, being a new mother to her daughter Misha, and worrying about her father. On top of that, Simon's cousin, Tamar, is constantly getting herself into trouble, and Simon has to bail her out. LaToya is starting to wonder if she even fits into a relationship, or if she can be a good mother. She is worried that her issues will become too much for her to handle, leading her to do something drastic.

Simon deeply loves Latoya and will do anything for her and their daughter. However, he also loves another woman in his life: his cousin, Tamar. Simon sees Tamar as a sister and feels responsible for her. He knows she has had a difficult life after her parents disappeared, and his family took her in. While everyone else in his family has given up on Tamar, Simon wants to show that someone cares about her. But when an incident puts LaToya and Misha in danger, Simon is faced with a difficult decision. Will he be able to forgive himself, or will his actions make LaToya believe that love is just an illusion?

LaToya and Simon have a lot to deal with. Will they rely on each other to get through their problems, or will their issues tear them apart? Follow their journey in ‘Just Us’ the second story in the ‘Forever Love’ series.
