What IS a book tour?
In a nutshell, a promotional virtual book blog tour is where I'll take information about your book - the cover, description, buy links, possibly an excerpt, as well as an author bio with your social links and get a large group of blogs to feature the post on their blogs/ social media sites . I'll make some eye-catching graphics and teasers and will enlist a large group of bloggers onto the tour - the longer sign ups run the better as that means more bloggers on board in the end.
Once sign ups have had their run, I'll prep all of the easy to post materials for the bloggers, form a tour schedule with links to all of the participating blogs and will send materials out to them 1-2 days before the tour starts. I'll also send you copies of the schedule and other materials so you can easily share and follow along as well if you wish.
The bloggers will post on their scheduled dates, which will put the post in front of all of their readers and most of them pepper promo all over social media as well to help push the tour.
The readers that come in to check out the tour are also able to enter a giveaway that is included with the event - usually for an Amazon gift card that I sponsor though if you wish to throw in other prizes you can. Readers can earn entries into the included giveaway by commenting, sharing, adding the books to their Goodreads & Bookbubs lists, following you on various social media sites and a few other entry methods to help push the tour along. That way readers will also push the tour out along their own social networks and friends, which results in reaching an even wider audience.
I'll also be posting on social media daily and will be having daily traffic come by my site as some bloggers can't post the giveaway (like those on Facebook or Instagram) so they all link back to me.
A sale is not required for the tour, though they do help drive sales a bit. If you do have one planned, we can definitely coincide with the dates to build some hype for the sale.
The tour is pretty laid back - I simply ask that you pop into some of the blogs when you get a chance to comment with readers a bit. - they're thrilled to know that the author is around and interacting!
