Mated to the Grizzly
Bears in Love Book 1
by PA Vachon
Genre: Paranormal Romance
143 pages

Picture
Ian Jones is a shifter bounty hunter trying to infiltrate a rogue group of shifters who can't seem to stop breaking the law. When he meets his fated mate Lauren he will have to make a heart-wrenching decision; should he go or should he stay with the one fated just for him?
Fast paced, heart stopping action and a love for the ages are all contained in this wonderful story reminiscent of Moxie North.

It was just after dusk, when the sky first starts to blanket the world in stars like tiny sparkling diamonds in a sea of black. I was walking home from work after a mostly uneventful shift at my day job as a retail associate in a trendy downtown boutique. My manager had given me some flack about my breaks, but come on, when you've been out the night before with your girls living it up, you expect some kind of day-after laziness. I was almost to my street when I heard a terrifying noise off to my right in the tall grass along the darkened street. By the way, in the horror movies, this is where most girls timidly go to check out what the noise is, and they become the first victim of the villainous killer. Not me, I went into the grass like a bull chasing a red cape at a bullfight. What I found would change my life. Lying in a shallow ditch that was mostly hidden by tall grasses and some shrubbery was the most beautiful man I had ever seen. He was wearing jeans and a ripped up tee that looked like, at one time, it molded to his perfectly sculpted abs like a second skin.

When I See Her Smile
Bears in Love Book 2

Picture
Trevor has known heartache. Abandoned by one woman as a child and recently deceived by another, he has learned the only person he can count on is himself. Can Trevor open his heart and learn to trust again?

Rebecca Ann is done with men and their duplicitous nature. Her ex boyfriend was caught red-handed in the act with Rebecca's best friend. Will she ever be able to heal her soul from the deep emotional wounds left by her callous ex?

When two wounded souls meet, a smile from her is all it takes for the sparks to fly. Throw in an ex or two on a mission, a clan of grizzlies that will protect their own to their last breaths, and a little romance to nurture your soul, and you have one of the greatest powers on earth… Love.

I didn't think I would ever meet my one, my soul mate. Fate has always laughed at me and jerked my life strings to and fro. From being raised in an orphanage because my mom couldn't handle a young shifter male without my father until I was found by Marcus on my twelfth birthday to thinking I had found my mate as a young adult. I blame my raging hormones for that shit show. I had just turned nineteen and she was beautiful, but that beauty held grasping, greedy evil thoughts and deeds behind her facade. She was almost the death of me, and when I found out she had been sent to infiltrate our clan and spy for Hatchet when Ian and Lauren were just mated, I lost what little hope I had for forever. Almost two years later and the clan is still trying to mend from her deviousness. And I am still alone, I have my clan who are like a family. But I don’t have my one. I am starting to think I lost my chance. I was not prepared for what happened next. Not one little bit.

I was sent into Fall City, Washington to get supplies for the week. While there, I visited The Roadhouse Restaurant and Inn, a small clapboard building that dated back to 1916, and that's when it happened. Instant hard-on and not just because she was beautiful, but because she was mine. She smiled at me as she walked up to my table to take my order and my polar bear rushed to the surface. Yep, a polar in a grizzly clan. Not something you see everyday, but Marcus the clans leader and all around giant grizzly is my pseudo-dad figure, and once you are in, that's it. Your clan, your family. I had to concentrate on holding my polar back. I got a whiff of her scent, like fresh snow and pine trees, I had to grip the table sides to keep myself in my seat. My polar, and if I am honest, my human self, wanted to grab up this vision and take her away to keep her to myself.

PA Vachon was born in the Golden State on a cloudy Thursday morning in January 1975. She is now living in the land of the Pacific Northwest. The adventures that come to life in her mind are finally traveling to her fingers and creating a reality of their own on the pages that she fills with words. The lively voices in her mind have taken control and she can't get them out fast enough!

She lives with a couple of cantankerous grizzly bears (aka her loving, supportive husband and youngest child) and now that her two eldest bear cubs have migrated from the den (aka married life and adulting) she has more time to dedicate to her passion and to pour out the stories that fill both her mind and her heart.

Her hope is that you will continue to find adventure within her books and love her stories just as much as she loves writing them.

What is something unique/quirky about you?
I am a capricorn in every sense of the meaning. I overthink everything, I am a type A personality and I can hold a grudge and pretend like there is nothing wrong.

Tell us something really interesting that's happened to you!
I was run over by a car driven by my aunt in the late 1980’s, she literally rolled the car over my foot and it broke several small bones.

What are some of your pet peeves?
Loud chewing, facial hair (it kinda freaks me out), know it all people, liars...

Where were you born/grew up at?
Born in Northern California but moved a lot as a kid and not because anyone in the family was in the military...my mom liked to have what she called ‘adventures’

If you knew you'd die tomorrow, how would you spend your last day?
With my husband and children and out many pets.

Who is your hero and why?
My dad was and is my hero, he had a third grade education (he was born in the 1940’s) and he was one of the smartest men I’ve ever known. He was always working no matter what

What kind of world ruler would you be?
A terrible one, I am so indecisive.

What are you passionate about these days?
My writing and my hubby, all of our children are finally grown and we can get back to being an ‘us’

What do you do to unwind and relax?
I read, listen to music drink a little wine...

How to find time to write as a parent?
Luckily my children don’t ‘need’ me as much as when they were younger, the youngest is 18 now.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I still don’t really, although I write and publish books I am still perfecting my craft and making my work better and better...maybe by book 4

Do you have a favorite movie?
Grease is my all time favorite tied with The Wizard of Oz

Which of your novels can you imagine made into a movie?
I would love to see book two turned into a movie. It is the best of my work so far...

What inspired you to write this book?
I was inspired by a dream I had while writing book one and that is how we ended up with 4 more books planned for this series.

What can we expect from you in the future?
A lot more sexy shifter romance, this is my genre and I wouldn’t change anything about what I am currently writing. Of course, that doesn’t mean that some day I might not branch out. I have this amazing idea for a mail order bride story...

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in When I See Her Smile?

Trevor was fooled into thinking that the woman he was with in book one was his fated mate, that didn’t end well for him as you will find out in book two. Rebecca Ann is the one who everyone takes advantage of (not because she is a door mat, but because that is what she knows~her mom is terrible) and when the two meet its magical.

Where did you come up with the names in the story?
The good guys I used names that I liked when I was pregnant with all three of my children that made the lists but not the cut. The bad guys all have names of people I don’t like irl

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
Getting to tell Trevor and Rebecca’s story, after book one Trevor really needed his HEA

Tell us about your main characters- what makes them tick?
Love and fear actually is what makes them tick. They are both afraid to love for different reasons, but both want love so badly they can taste it.

How did you come up with the title of your first novel?
I knew I wanted the word ‘Mated’ in the title from there I chose to add to the Grizzly once i decided on the type of animal Ian was.

Who designed your book covers?
My first two covers were designed by a woman named Olivia on FIVERR the rest of my covers are being done by Brandon Vance Designs, he is amazing!

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
I would try and make it longer maybe, but I wouldn’t change a thing.

Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?
I learned that I can write and write on a deadline.

If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?
Matt Bomer

Anything specific you want to tell your readers?
I love that people are reading my books, sharing my posts on facebook and twitter, so I guess what I really want to say is thank you for going on this amazing, crazy journey with me.

How did you come up with name of this book?
I was writing the first few chapters and the LFC (Lead Female Character) smiled at my LMC (Lead Male Character) and the title hit me with his reaction to her smile.

What is your favorite part of this book and why?
I love when the main ‘bad guy’ character gets theirs, its always a smile worthy moment for me when good prevails over evil.

Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?
My LMC is based loosely on someone very close to me, the LFC is based a little on me, and some of my friends and family members.

Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.
They always hijack my books, but I keep the story going in the right direction. These books are real, the characters have flaws but they are also good people.

Have you written any other books that are not published?
No, all the rest of my stories are in my head waiting to be put to paper.

If your book had a candle, what scent would it be?
Pine and man scent...my favorite

What are your top 10 favorite books/authors?

KC Lynn, Moxie North, Jules Tyler, P Jameson, Susan Stoker, Caitlyn O’Leary, K. Langstone, Jennifer Kacey, Harley Stone, Piper Davenport ~ pretty much every book each of them has written.

What book do you think everyone should read?
To Kill A Mockingbird it is one of the all time great novels.

How long have you been writing?
Published four months, writing since I was 10

Do the characters all come to you at the same time or do some of them come to you as you write?
Most come to me as I write about the two main characters in each book, the stinkers.

What kind of research do you do before you begin writing a book?
Before the book, none really. While I am writing is when I research.

Do you see writing as a career?
I do.

What do you think about the current publishing market?
I think that publishing is a good mix of traditional and indie, I love that there is an indie market where anyone who wants to can write and publish a book.

Do you read yourself and if so what is your favorite genre?
I have been reading since I was 3 and I really don’t have just one favorite, although PNR is ahead of the rest of the pack.

Do you prefer to write in silence or with noise? Why?
My first book I wrote in almost complete chaos, I wrote on my breaks at my graveyard IC job book two I wrote at home wearing headphones and listening to the newest Kelly Clarkson CD

Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?
I write one at a time, but characters from my upcoming books are usually trying to take up space in my head at the same time.

Pen or type writer or computer?
Laptop for sure, I type 75 WPM way faster than I could ever write long hand.

What made you want to become an author and do you feel it was the right decision?
I wanted to get the stories that were taking up room in my imagination down on paper to share with the world. I definitely think it was worth it.

A day in the life of the author?
Up by 430 am to get ready for my ‘real’ job as a call center rep, 6-3 work the day job. Home by 330 and on the computer writing, marketing, interacting with my social media accounts, checking and making NL’s, sending out emails designing swag, in bed by 11 pm ish, and then I lay there for an hour before I can sleep. Rinse and Repeat.

Advice they would give new authors?
Follow your happy. If you want to write, write if you don’t want to don’t. But always be true to yourself.

Describe your writing style.
Fly by the seat of my pants let my editor make it pretty is my style

What makes a good story?
So many things; plot twists, the characters the story itself and a happily ever after.

What are they currently reading?
Just finished a new release from Jules Tyler called Finding Sanctuary and I have several go to re reads.

What is your writing process?
I don’t really outline, I get the idea for a book and then run with it! Once I get the flow going I add chapters and page breaks as it is needed.
