Lucy Michaels, is about to realize her dream of becoming an international photographer, when an attack from a rogue cougar-shifter triggers her physical transformation to a species the world doesn’t know exists. As voraciously unstable appetites emerge, Talen Cascade, the sexy shifter who rescued her, embarks on a mission to integrate her into the ways of his clan and satiate her rising hunger.

While the rogue shifter continues to pursue Lucy, Talen discovers an unseen foe is hunting and experimenting on his species. Although Talen is convinced that Lucy is his true mate, only she can decide whether she belongs to him or the man who claimed her.

Faint interest replaced some of the sadness. Beauty shone through her now curious eyes. “I could get photos no other photographer has ever dreamed of.”
“There are some amazing animals in the mountains, you will take astounding pictures. You just won't be allowed to take pictures of the shifters or the lair as our society has to remain hidden.”
He realized his mistake as soon as he spoke.
Her eyes flashed with amber. The first stage of her transformation was close. “Allowed. Did you actually say allowed to me? Like I'm your servant? I didn't ask for this you know. I had a life before I met you. It may have sucked. But it was mine. You don't get to come and dictate to me like some kind of father figure!” She moved to get up. His cat felt her intention to walk away. It roared in his head. That was never going to happen. Ever.
He was on her before she could brace herself. He had her on her back and was laying over her when she sucked in a breath. “My cat is dominant over yours Lucy. If you fight me you will find out what that means. I caution you to be careful. You’re not ready for what that entails.” He put his lips close to hers and spoke directly into her mouth while holding her amber gaze. “I’m no father figure, but if your looking for some Daddy Dom roleplay, my cat is more than willing to play with you.” He nuzzled her neck.
“Pervert.” She snapped. Her scent thickened. An instant later her hands roamed his body grabbing his ass. His cock pressed urgently against her stomach, chafing against it’s confinement. His hands had barely slipped under her shirt when two lights flickered through the trees.

When the huntress becomes the prey…

Sarah Marksmen doesn’t miss.
As a Park Ranger, she is tasked with hunting down the cougar responsible for multiple attacks and kills. She expects the cold welcome of the Cascade family when she arrives on their land. She doesn’t expect the blistering heat she experiences with Devon Cascade.
As dark forces converge to annihilate everything she holds dear. Will she be able to trust in a man who was forced to harden his heart, or will she be the catalyst that destroys an entire species.

*note* Although part of a series each book features a different cascade couple and can be read stand alone.

Heat seared down Sarah's spine as Devon's lips devoured hers. His hands held her neck. Though his grip was loose, nothing could have moved her. His tongue was gentle. Demanding. Insatiable. She fought the lust threatening to consume her. His kisses, a drug she could easily become addicted to.
Devon whispered against her lips. “You taste like cinnamon and honey. I will never get enough of you.”
She clutched the front of his shirt tightly. “This is crazy.” She couldn't understand her attraction to Devon. It was intense. Her best friend was gorgeous and as much as she loved Gerry she’d never felt this kind of attraction. She was there to do a job. Despite her last name, she had worked hard to become a Ranger. She never failed in a hunt, always bringing down her prey. She needed to get her emotions under control. She was like a lit firecracker in a room full of explosives.
She tried pulling away. Devon's lips had her enslaved, her will slipped away as she gave into the sensations. His body continued to radiate a solid warmth that held her captive. His hands were possessive as they slid slowly down her arms and around her back, pulling her closer to him.

Hunter's Passion
Cascade Cougars Book Three

Picture
Her experiments ravaged his species. He wants to ravish her.

Dr. Racheal Smith will never forgive herself for the experiments she was forced to do on the shifter races. She let pride and the discovery of a new species cloud her judgment. She won’t let it happen again in the short time she has left. She has a plan and not even the man who claims to be her mate will stop her.
Hunter has waited too long for his mate to let her destroy herself. He will fight for the woman who has captured his soul. While he can come to terms with her past he fears she won’t be able to forgive his.

A mouse nibbled the corner of Racheal’s granola bar before scurrying across the table.
She looked up from her microscope, rubbing her fingers to warm them before bringing the blood sample back into focus. “Where’s a cat when you need one.”
“How long did you think you could avoid me?” Hunter growled.
She shivered as his growl resonated through her. She refused to look up from her microscope. Time was a commodity she no longer possessed. “If you're smart,” she said, “you'll walk back out that door and pretend you never saw me.
The irritation in his voice was evident. “Not gonna happen sweetheart.”
Racheal turned, taking in the sexy male standing with his hands on his hips. His dark hair and eyes, similar to his brother Devon’s. She had sworn that she would protect his species and do as much as she could to reverse some of the damage she had inadvertently helped orchestrate which meant keeping his species as far away from her as possible. “Who are you?”
“Hunter Cascade.”
“What do you want?” she asked.
His eyes flashed amber. “You.”

Can you, for those who don't know you already, tell something about yourself and how you became an author?
I am a Steamy Paranormal Romance author. I love characters that are as unique as they are unusual. I have been writing since I was in high school but didn’t publish my first book until a couple years ago.

What is something unique/quirky about you?
I’m a tea-aholic. I have at least 3 Tim Horton’s steeped teas a day. My husband has been trained not to enter the house without one. lol

Tell us something really interesting that's happened to you!
I am a Trekkie. I started collecting Star Trek and Star Wars memorabilia when I was fifteen. I collected every Star Trek figurine ever produced before 2001. Every single one was mint in box. (Never opened). It took over fifteen years to collect everything. I had to renovate an entire room to house it. I admit to being an e-bay junkie t the time.
When my house burned down in 2001 I lost everything. As I also lost everything I had ever written, this also postponed my publishing career. It was devastating, but it also taught me perseverance. Although I don’t have the figurines anymore, I own every Star Trek Movie ever made.

What are some of your pet peeves?
Ordering a steeped tea, then driving home before I find out it’s a coffee. (I don’t drink coffee).

Where were you born/grew up at?
I was born in Burnaby (Vancouver) British Columbia but grew up on Vancouver Island.

If you knew you'd die tomorrow, how would you spend your last day?
With my family at the Lake. We go to Spout Lake every year. Tubing, boating and swimming. My kids say it’s better than Disneyland but Disney would be my second choice.

Who is your hero and why?
Anyone who gives back to their community. There are so many people that give of there own free time to help with special events, fundraisers, etc. These are the people I admire.

What do you do to unwind and relax?
I read, spend time with the kids and love going out for a nice dinner. (Bonus points for fine wine)

How to find time to write as a parent?
This is a constant struggle. With three kids and a husband that travels often for work (hockey broadcaster) my job as moms taxi service rivals that of being a writer.

Describe yourself in 5 words or less!
Dedicated, chocolate loving, mother

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I knew in high school I would eventually publish my writing.

Do you have a favorite movie?
Avatar

Which of your novels can you imagine made into a movie?
Dante’s Desire

As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
Cougar

What inspired you to write this series?
I love shifters. The transformation process is one of my favorites and the fact that it’s different for everyone makes it that much more appealing. You never know what can happen.

What can we expect from you in the future?
I have a Christmas Novella planned for this series set to release the beginning of December and the second New Immortals book (Dante’s Desire) will release Oct 15th.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in the Cascade Cougar Series ?
The men are cougar shifters from the same lair. They have to find and secure their mates while evading the man intent on experimenting and destroying them. While they are alpha males, they have past trauma’s and current misconceptions to overcome in order to survive. Raised in an earlier area when women were to be protected, they struggle to balance the ideals of the modern women they have chosen. Their mates are anything but docile.

How did you come up with the concept and characters for the book?
I grew up loving werewolves, vampires and anything else that went bump in the night. I wanted a shifter world. One I could expand on and evolve over time. I also wanted to be able to bring other species into my world, which has started in the latest book Shifter’s Eden.
I love character development and aim to have my worlds evolve as effectively as my characters do. My favorite reviews are always the ones where a reader says they started the book and couldn’t put it down until they were finished.

Where did you come up with the names in the story?
As the shifters in my world have longer lifespans than their human counterparts. I researched popular names at the time of their births and the areas their parents travelled.

What did you enjoy most about writing this series?
I am far from done but my favorite so far is the evolution of the villain. Kevin Kallan.

Tell us about your main characters- what makes them tick?
Their dedication to their family and their species. In some books this comes in direct conflict with claiming their mate.

How did you come up with the title of your first novel?
Virgin Mate was chosen as it was the first. The beginning. The breaking of new ground.

Who designed your book covers?
Virgin Mate is published with Solstice. All other covers are done by my designer and reflect the look I want going forward for this series.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
No, I like the dynamic between my latest Cascade couple and judging by the reviews, so did my readers.

Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?
This one went pretty smooth but earlier books were more of a struggle.

Anything specific you want to tell your readers?
Just that there is a lot more to come. Two more books this year and a special project is in the works for next spring.

How did you come up with name of this book?
My latest book in this series (Shifters Eden) was named based on the duality of Eden being a paradise when Jane’s (The heroine) life is anything but.

What is your favorite part of this book and why?
When the truth about Jane’s twin is revealed. I cried when I wrote it. Her revelation wasn’t in the original outline. It just happened.

If you could spend time with a character from your book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?
I would spend the day with Hunter from Hunter’s Passion (Cascade Cougar’s book 3). Hunter has my favorite sense of humor. Funny with a perverted twist. You never know what he will say or do. I would take him to a sporting event. He can heckle with the best of them.

Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?
My characters are all paranormal and many of their character traits are influenced by the animal they shift into, they are from my imagination.

Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?
My characters hi-jack my story frequently. Most of the time I run with it and edit out what doesn’t fit. Some of my favorite writing has come from character development late in the story that wasn’t in the original outline.

Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.
I believe my books have a unique take on the shifter world, with multifaceted characters who will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. My books are a rollercoaster ride without an exit. (At least not yet).

Have you written any other books that are not published?
I wrote several books, novellas and short stories that were not published before my house burned down.

If your book had a candle, what scent would it be?
Every book has a unique scent. Shifters are sensitive to smell. Shifter’s Eden is Evergreen.

What did you edit out of this book?
I edited out a scene from Shifter’s Eden between Jane and her twin. While in the original outline it didn’t add anything to the storyline in the final draft. I loved the character development of her twin so much, I decided she needed her own story told in the future. The original scene would have detracted from that story line and I didn’t want to form those kinds of restrictions.
Even when you create a world you have to stick to the rules within it.
Is there a writer whose brain you would love to pick for advice? Who would that be and why?
Stephen King. I was a huge fan as a teen. I still have nightmares about Pet Cemetery! I remember teasing my mom about the Harlequin Romance she was reading and her reminding me who paid for my Stephen King collection. Yes, karma is laughing at me.
While I prefer romance now, I love the structure of his writing. The angst behind the characters. He has a way of making you route for the most despicable of characters and you never know who is bad or good. I also love his commitment to writing 2000 words a day. This is a goal I strive for but have not yet achieved.

What are your top 10 favorite books/authors?
I have way more than 10 authors I love but here are a few.
Nalini Singh
Donna Grant
J.R. Ward
Thea Harrison
Karen Marie Moning
J.K. Rowling
Stephanie Meyer
Sylvia Day
Larissa Ione
Gena Showalter

What book do you think everyone should read?
Lord of the Rings

How long have you been writing?
Since I was a teenager.

Do the characters all come to you at the same time or do some of them come to you as you write?
Many side characters come to me as I write but the main characters are developed prior to writing the story.

What kind of research do you do before you begin writing a book?
Names, dates, places sometimes mythology or languages.

Do you see writing as a career?
Yes. I am working toward a full time writing career now.

What do you think about the current publishing market?
I’m a hybrid author currently. I have books with a publisher and some myself. I believe you will see more and more authors go the self-publishing route in the future. With big names like J.K Rowling choosing to self-publish this is likely to become a trend.

Do you read yourself and if so, what is your favorite genre?
I read paranormal, fantasy and occasionally contemporary romance

Do you prefer to write in silence or with noise? Why?
I like to write in silence. However, as I have a very active household, silence is rare.

Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?
I write one at a time, but will work on an outline for another.

If you could have been the author of any book ever written, which book would you choose?
The Hobbit

Pen or type writer or computer?
Computer for writing but I write with a pen when outlining.

What made you want to become an author and do you feel it was the right decision?
I have always wanted to be an author. It isn’t so much a decision as a compulsion I couldn’t escape.

A day in the life of the author?
With three kids everyday is a new adventure for Tia’s Taxi service. I write in between driving to and from school, work and their activities. I hear the word mom approximately 327 times a day.

Advice they would give new authors?
Patience. The publishing world is changing rapidly so accept that it takes time to navigate and learn the ins and outs of the industry.

Describe your writing style.
Provocative paranormal romance with a saucy twist

What makes a good story?
One where a character’s resilience overcomes any obstacle.

What are they currently reading?
Highlanders Touch

What is your writing process? For instance, do you do an outline first? Do you do the chapters first?
I do a rough outline first. Chapter by Chapter. I can see the overall story arc this way and fill in any holes I may have missed. After I have my rough outline, I write the scenes within the chapters.

What are common traps for aspiring writers?
Losing your train of thought. Staying focused on one project and finishing it.

What is your writing Kryptonite?
T.V. If I start a show I can’t focus on writing. I don’t turn it on until my writing day is over.

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?
Both. I want original characters in a unique world but I always deliver a Happy Ever After.

If you could tell your younger writing self, anything, what would it be?
Make sure other people beta read your work before you publish. As writers we look at the same story so many times, we can’t see the simplest of mistakes. And just so you know, experienced authors make mistakes too.
I recently sent an email thanking my readers for the great reviews the book received. I happen to write the books name “Shifter’s Eden” in the body of the email but missed the f… yeah think about that.
Out of the thousands of people that read that email only a couple noticed and told me. At first, I was appalled. Then I laughed. In the end I told everyone about it and we all laughed. So, if you do make a mistake. Own it. Fix it and if you can, have a chuckle about it. The next draft will be better.

What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
Keeping a man both strong and sensitive without being to overbearing. An Alpha with understanding.

How long on average does it take you to write a book?
From outlining to final draft is approximately 3 months.

Do you believe in writer’s block?
I get asked this a lot. I don’t struggle with writer’s block. I am constantly writing ideas in a book and deciding which to use next, and stick with it, is more of a battle for me.
