What happens when the chaos ends and their normal life begins?

It has been three years since Hayley and Morgan Carter experienced the turmoil caused by Morgan’s family. Now that the threats, kidnappings, and shootings are behind them, the two can now live a normal life with their two-year-old son, Morgan Jr. While Hayley is living her dream as an event coordinator for a high-profiled company, Morgan decided to go into law enforcement and become a detective. With their lives slowly falling into place, the two will soon find out that things are not what they seem.
As the two receive some surprising news from a former nemesis, they must decide what is best to protect themselves and their loved ones. Will the two result back to their former lives to keep their happily ever after, or will it be too late?

Love.
A lot of people take that word for granted. Some do it because they’re scared to be loved by someone, or feel that they shouldn’t be. I have felt that way before, all because of the things I have done. I never thought I was worthy of it.
Until I met Hayley.
Hayley is and always has been the love of my life. When I first laid eyes on her, I knew she would be the one for me, but I let my personal views on love and life get in the way of happiness. When she made me realize how precious life can be, I let all of my past feelings go and just lived. That’s something I haven’t done in a long time. Since I have been with Hayley, I never looked back. Even with all of the bullshit that has happened with us, our love became stronger, which I’m happy for every single day.
Since Hales and I got married, we have been living a pretty normal life. We have a two- yea r-old son, Morgan Jr., who we call MJ. That boy is certainly a handful but I enjoy being a father to him. It’s definitely the highlight of my day. Not only are we parents, but Hales is working as a private event consultant with a high-profiled agency, while I took an extremely different career path. I decided to become a cop.
Yep, a cop.
After the incidents concerning my family, I wanted to give back to society in some sort so I decided to go to the academy. Throughout the training, I kept wondering if I was doing the right thing, but when I looked at what I have been through and the future that I will have with my family, I knew I was making the right decision. Two years later and I was promoted to being a detective. With my new title, I knew one thing I wasn’t going to do and that was abuse my badge like my so called father did. To be honest, I think that was another reason why I went into law enforcement.
Sometimes, I have to laugh at the life that I’m living right now. Me, Morgan Carter, the former womanizer, is talking about happiness and love and living a normal life. That’s something I’ve never experienced, but I’m glad that I’m able to now.
“Morgan! Morgan?!”
I looked over to see Hayley staring at me. She is still as beautiful as when I first laid eyes on her all of those years ago. Her curly hair was now a honey brown color to match her honey skin tone. Her brown eyes looked into mine as she gave me a huge smile and leaned closer to me.
“Hey, baby. I didn’t hear you come in.”
“That was because you were asleep. Long day?”
I slowly sat up from the couch and looked around. I looked down at my clothes realizing that I was still wearing the suit that I’d gone to work in.
“You must really have had a long day if you’re still in your clothes.”
“I guess I laid down as soon as I walked in.” I slowly replied.
“Luckily MJ is staying with my parents tonight, or you probably would have forgotten to pick him up,” Hales said. She paused before speaking again. “Or did you forget that he was spending the night there?”
I sat up on the couch and ran my hand through my hair. “I guess it’s this case I’m working on. Between meeting with the Sergeant and working these damn stakeouts, I guess I just lost track of everything.”
Hayley smiled and sat down beside me. She motioned for me to turn so that my back was facing her.
“I guess a massage is in order then.”
“That would be nice.”
Once her hands were on my body, I immediately relaxed. Just having her near me was all I needed.
“I know you can’t talk about any of your cases, but…”
“You’re right… I can’t. As much as I want to I can’t jeopardize any type of information we have on certain suspects. Not just that but I don’t want to put you or MJ’s life in danger.”
“I understand, baby. I just wanted to understand how your days are with you working on the force. I still find it hard to believe that you’re on the force.”
I chuckled. “I think no one saw that coming.”
She turned me so I could face her again. She ran her fingers through my hair and smiled. “I know why you’re doing it, though. You needed to find a purpose for everything that has happened with your family.”
“Let’s hope I don’t have to deal with any of them again.”
“I hardly doubt it. With Travis, Will, Caroline, and Sophia still in prison and Rick dead, that will be highly unlikely that you’ll come across any of them again.”
I leaned my back on the couch and sighed. “I have thought about it, though. Whether anyone would try and come after us again.”
“Morgan…”
“Hales, even though we have been living this perfect life, we still shouldn’t let our guards down. There could be other people out there who are working with Travis but just haven’t made their move yet.”
“Do you think you’re overreacting a bit? It’s been almost three years, baby. If anyone was going to do anything, they would have done so already.”
“Do you really think that? If anyone does make another move, cop or not, I will be ready.”
Hayley sighed. “Maybe I just got too comfortable with actually living a normal life compared to us always on the run looking over our shoulders.”
“I sort of forgot too, but just for a little while.”
Hayley leaned her head on my shoulder and I wrapped my arms around her. She gave a soft sigh.
“Should we be worried about this now, though? Your cousin is getting married next week, so whatever thoughts you’re having, you shouldn’t worry him about it.”
I caressed her shoulder, knowing she was right, but I can’t stop thinking about it, especially when I have information about Travis being released from prison. I didn’t know if I should tell Hales about it, especially since everything is going so good between us.
I’ll tell her when the time was right. Whenever that may be.

Sheena Binkley first discovered her love for storytelling when writing her first story for a class project at the tender age of nine. Since then, she has composed several short stories and numerous tales that are not only engaging, but simply entertaining. She is also a freelance writer, penning articles on various topics including education and entertainment.

To date, her best-selling novels include In Love With My Best Friend, Love Unbroken, Something Just Ain't Right, and The Love Chronicles.

What is something unique/quirky about you?
I used to play the clarinet in middle school. I was really good at it. I also wanted to be a news reporter and did a news show for a local public access channel when I was in college.

What are some of your pet peeves?
People chewing with their mouths open, and leaving trash in my car.

What inspired you to write this book?
Just Right is a novella that is part of one of my series, Something Just Ain’t Right. I did the series over two years ago, and I figured I should write an update on the main characters of the series. It felt good to go back and write about how the couple of the series changed over the years and what they have accomplished after everything that has happened after the series ended. I think the readers of the series were also happy to read about how much the characters have changed and just to see how they are adjusting to life now.

What can we expect from you in the future?
I just wrapped up the third book, How Deep Is Your Love, from my current series, The Love Chronicles. This book is a romance/new adult novel that is a continuation of the main couple in the series. The story is an emotional roller coaster that readers will experience. I know I did while writing the story, so I know readers will feel the emotions throughout every scene.

Where were you born/grew up at?
I was born and raised in Houston, TX.

If you knew you'd die tomorrow, how would you spend your last day?
I would spend my last day with my family, and I would do all of the things that I would love to do, including bowling (if I can), going to the beach, and watching the sunset.

What do you do to unwind and relax?
I mainly listen to music to unwind. When I do, I’ll just put my earbuds in, lay back and just relax. Shopping also helps too, lol.

How to find time to write as a parent?
Writing when you’re a parent can be a challenge, lol. My son is 10, so I try to balance everything on a daily basis. I would usually write when he’s asleep, or on my days off from work. When I have a huge deadline, I would either try to write while I have some down time at work. That way, I wouldn’t have to worry about writing as much when I go home.

Advice they would give new authors?
My advice to new authors is to never give up on your dream. There will be critics and naysayers that will criticized your work, but don’t let that discourage you. Also, write because you love to do it, and not for the fame or money; because believe me, sometimes writing is not all it’s cracked up to be. You must have patience and thick skin to be in this industry; if you do it for the wrong reasons, then you shouldn’t be doing it at all.

How long have you been writing?
I’ve been writing for about 27 years, since I was 9, but I have been a published author for four years.

I thought this was such an interesting way to begin the excerpt:

" What happens when the chaos ends and their normal life begins? "

Is there really ever such a thing as "normal life"? And it certainly doesn't sound like there is in this book!
