I use names from the time period, a lot of them family names. In choosing a title, I look for two things: 1. one that isn't used by a lot of other authors and 2. something that relates to the story. Everything inspires me, from an article in a magazine to something I overhear in a restaurant to a TV news report or documentary. Ideas are everywhere. I do a lot of research for each book. I want the book to be accurate without being pedantic. Readers notice details and deserve accuracy.
