No Mere Mortal
Decagon Book 1
by Amara Dey
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Picture
Peace on the enchanted world of Decagon is about to end. Radiance, its daylight realm, is on the brink of invasion from the night dwellers of Moonshade. And only human-born Venus Myles, a dance teacher unaware of her divine lineage, can stop them.

Radiance sends Bolt to Earth to enlighten Venus, and their passionate connection sizzles. But before Bolt tells Venus the full extent of his world’s dilemma, or the unimaginable consequences if she refuses to help, he is unexpectedly withdrawn.

Reeling from the shock of Bolt’s sudden disappearance, Venus travels to Radiance in search of him…and finds evil at its most depraved lying in wait.

Sexy and enthralling, No Mere Mortal is awash with enchantment, danger, and spicy romance.

Venus took Bolt’s face between her hands. “I understand. You needed an incentive. It’s a difficult task convincing a human she’s a demigod and your world’s saviour.”

“But my reasons were self-serving.”

“Yet you’ve saved me again and again. Protected and cared for me. I love how that makes me feel. And you didn’t have to admit your motives, but you did, which makes you honest. A trait I admire.”

Her words of forgiveness released her negative emotions and healed her heart, soul, and mind. And Bolt’s too judging by the softness in his eyes.

“I like the way your brain works.”

“Do you appreciate my mind and my body?” Venus unbuttoned Bolt’s tunic

Bolt shrugged it away, the undershirt he wore followed, and his soft look deepened to desire. “You know I do.”

Always fascinated by magic and myths, Amara Dey writes paranormal romance featuring the Gods of the Cuban Santeria Pantheon, the Orishas.

With their passionate love affairs, distinct personalities, wide variety of strengths, weaknesses and interests, they are the inspiration for Amara’s characters and the magical world where they live. While the rich folklore of her native Guyana inspires the creatures they must defeat.

Amara lives in London and, like her characters, she loves dancing Salsa. Her love for dance is reflected in all of her stories. When not writing, she enjoys Zumba workouts, reading paranormal romances, and watching supernatural TV shows. Vacation times draw her to tropical shores, Cuba being a favourite destination.

She is published by Extasy Books, and currently writing books 2 and 3 of the DECAGON series.

INSPIRATION

Amara was inspired to write the Decagon Series through reading sexy Paranormal Romances. And if her books had a candle, their scent would be Passionflower for sure. Sweet, salty, erotic, earthy – a sharp shaft of desire.

The characters in NO MERE MORTAL, and throughout the entire series, are inspired by the Latin American pantheon of Gods known as the Orishas. Similar to Greek/Roman/Norse in their magical abilities, but of a more exotic flavor.

She learned of them from a Cuban friend who told her his childhood folklore stories. And, wanting to bring something new to the table, she features the Orishas as brothers-in-arms alongside her fictional pantheon, the Decagons.

ABOUT THE CHARACTERS

The main characters in NO MERE MORTAL are Venus, the human heroine, broken-hearted and off men. Yet she’s strongly attracted to Bolt, a hot-tempered, disgraced, womanizing deity.

The antagonist, Ansa, is a powerful and evil witch who is quite mad and out to kill Venus before she can save Bolt’s realm. Along with her lover, Zaru, a magical healer, turned bad by Ansa’s influence. Last and by no means least, the Master, a vengeful mutant intent on destroying Bolt’s realm.

Another important character is Marco, the heroine’s best friend and business partner. Human, charming, a Salsero, and a total believer in magic.

The film version of NO MERE MORTAL would star Joe Manganiello (True Blood) and Jessica Alba (LA’s Finest) as Bolt and Venus. They are physically similar too. But, if she could spend time with a character from this novel, it would be Marco. For a one-to-one Salsa dance session.

These characters are entirely from Amara’s imagination, although Marco is a nod to her Cuban friend who introduced her to the Orishas. The only similarity there is that they’re both excellent cooks.

So what’s coming from Amara in the future? Decagon 2, entitled IMMORTAL BOND and Decagon 3 - A MORTAL’S TOUCH. She’s also outlined a children’s paranormal adventure story called THE MIDNIGHT PEOPLE, which she will write under her legal name, AC Drayton.

Hi Bea,
Thankyou for your lovely comments. I did enjoy very much writhing this, my first novel.
And yes, Martine Jardin did a great job with the cover art. I am very pleased with it. She's really captured the physical attributes of the characters and their world.
I am working hard to finish Book 2 in this series and get it out into the world.
In the meantime, enjoy reading No Mere Mortal.
Cheers,
Amara

Sherry, thank you. The cover does show off the beauty of my characters, for sure. And that excerpt - it bring a smile to my lips and a raised eyebrow when I wrote it. LOL. What happens happens in the next few paragraphs is truly magical. Anyway mustn't give too much away.
Regards,
Amara

bn100 thank you. The excerpt is very suggestive in a sexual way, however it also shows that the main characters are communicating as a couple about something that's hard to talk about.. That's so important in all relationships, including romantic ones. It shows they are willing to work things out when the going gets tough. And it does....

Amara

Thanks Wendy, I wanted a big adventure and unusual characters in addition to a torrid romance.
Cheers
