Amazon bestselling author of romantic suspense, Lorelei Confer, has been writing since the fourth grade. She lives on the Gulf Coast of Florida with her husband and AJ, a longhaired Chihuahua, who are both her constant companions.

In 2010, her first novel, Deadly Deception was published, the first in the Deadly series. Another series, Saddle Creek, began with the first release, Rustlers and Romance in 2016. This series is set in the shadows of the Grand Teton mountains in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Mentoring children years ago led to helping aspiring authors set goals, and generally, meet their objective to finish the book. She practices her own discipline every day.

After six years as a copy editor and two years as an editor at The Wild Rose Press, she ventured out on her own as an indie author.

What inspired you to write the Saddle Creek series and the Christmas books?

The premise of the series is four male friends since childhood grow up in the small town of Saddle Creek, WY, located in the shadows of the Grand Tetons Mountain range. They consider themselves brothers; share and help each other through the growing pains of adulting after high school and remain loyal to each other throughout; one goes to college, another buys the horse ranch he’s worked/lived on since a young age, one joins the military, and the fourth becomes the local Sheriff.

1) Rustlers and Romance
2) An Uptown Girl and A Cowboy
3) Secrets and Deceptions

I love Christmas and I love the characters in the Saddle Creek series. I enjoyed writing the series so much and didn’t want to stop. I only had three of the original stories written last year so for Christmas I wrote a trilogy: A Saddle Creek Christmas Romance. One story for each of the main characters in each book. They are romantic suspense and each of them learns a different true meaning of Christmas.

4) A Saddle Creek Christmas Collection

5) Moonlight Kisses and MugShots

Then I wrote the Sheriff’s story: Moonlight Kisses and MugShots and it was released in August 2020. Shortly after, I started writing The Sheriff’s Christmas. And again, the secondary characters were calling to me and I had to answer. I wrote three Christmas stories with somewhat unsuspected matches. I loved it. And A Saddle Creek Christmas Collection 2 was born. So now there are three.

6)A Saddle Creek Christmas Collection 2: Second Chance Christmas Romances
7)The Sheriff’s Christmas

What can we expect from you in the future?
I’ve planned four new releases in 2021 and have my work cut out for me, no doubt.
I have A Cowboy and a Sweet Spot coming out to February 2021. These characters are also in the Saddle Creek Collection 2.
I also have: Protecting Sara releasing in Susan Stokers world Apr-May 2021
I’m about two thirds of the way done with the 8th book with a working title of Partners and Petit Theft. Again, using secondary characters. It’s a fun series and so many ways to go. Probably releasing late summer.
And I’d like to write in Desiree Holt’s world and release late fall.

How long did it take you to write your book?

Hi Bernie: The first book I wrote, Deadly Deception, actually came from a dream/nightmare episode that, of course, woke me up. I immediately wrote down everything I could remember. This was in 2006 and human sex trafficking wasn't in the news every day like it now. Then a couple weeks later I read an article in the daily newspaper about a house that the Task Force for Human Sex Trafficking had surveilled and then did a "sting." I called the name and number of the lead mentioned in the newspaper article and met him for lunch. After an interview, I needed to do so much more research. The hardest part of all this was want to write in the first book and what to leave out for the next one, etc. I also wanted to make it as real as possible so I attended a monthly meeting if all task force members and heard first heard how the surveillance worked, and how they rescued so many young women. My book finally sold in 2009 and was published in 2010. I had so much more info from research to share and continued to gather enough for the remaining five books.
