Justice And Her League
The Demigods Trilogy Book 1
by TJ Bell
Genre: RH Why Choose Paranormal Romance

Picture
My name is Justice, and yeah, I’m a demigod.
So far as I can tell, that status isn’t all that impressive. I’m supposed to have magical powers, but all I’ve ever done is accidentally kill my mother.

The only thing I have going for me is that I’m stronger, with sharper senses, than most humans. I’ve managed to turn those traits into something useful: I kill bad guys for a living.
So long as I avoid those pesky human authorities (they aren’t keen on vigilante justice) and don’t get killed myself, I figure I’m winning.

Until I run into
them. Ajax, Malcolm, and Rafe. Ajax is quiet, reserved, stronger than anyone I know. Malcolm is the laidback Southern boy always looking for a good time. Rafe is the wise one, the one who sees too much … and has too many secrets.

They are three outrageously sexy demigods.

Who happen to be my fated mates.

Hell, I didn’t think I’d ever find one, let alone three.

Despite all our differences, it works. Well, the steamy part of our relationship, anyway. The rest?

Not so much. As it turns out, I’ve mated with three altruistic men, and they aren’t willing to allow me to continue on with my vigilante ways. They say we’re a team now and we have to work together.

But I’ve always worked alone.

Justice & her League is the first book in the Demigods Trilogy. It is intended for mature audiences: 18+ readers only! It contains adult language and sexual situations. This is a fast burn romance where the girl gets all the guys.

Why choose?

“What the fuck happened?” the blond one, Malcolm, roared when he stuck his head into the office and noticed Rafael or Rafe-for-short laid out on the floor.
The hulking—and okay, seriously hot—black guy shadowed the doorway next, then he pushed Malcom out of the way so he could slip inside the room and drop to his knees next to Rafe’s body.
“Did you do this to him?” Malcolm demanded while Ajax pressed two fingers to Rafe’s neck and then prodded his head, causing the guy to let out a pained-sounding groan.
“Of course not,” I said, full of all sorts of indignation. I’d told Rafe I worked alone, and he’d insisted on following me anyway. He made the choice; how were the consequences of that decision my fault?
When Rafe rolled over onto his back, I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding, and then I glanced around the office. The only people in here were myself and these three guys to whom I was insanely sexually attracted, which made no sense. I mean, I’d been attracted to guys plenty in my life, and I’d acted on probably 75 percent of those scenarios.
But it never happened in the middle of a job, and never with such intensity—or with three guys at once.
If they asked me to pick which one I wanted most, I’d be unable to give an answer.
It was seriously fucked up. Clearly, I needed to get laid, but more than that, I needed to know where the hell Ignacio went.
“Don’t even tell me he got away,” I snapped at Malcolm.
“Okay, I won’t tell you.”
“Could you be any more cliché?”
He shrugged. “Clichés are funny.”
Flinging my hands in the air, I twirled around toward the door. “I gotta go. I need to track him down and—”
“Do not let her leave,” Rafe practically growled at Malcolm, who had edged his way onto the threshold.
I narrowed my eyes. Malcolm crossed his arms.
“Don’t make me hurt you,” I warned.
“Go ahead and try.” He grinned. “I promise to enjoy every moment.”
For fuck’s sake, was that a growl that just escaped through my clenched teeth?
Ajax had pulled Rafe to his feet. “First,” Rafe said, his gaze on me, “we help these women get back to their lives. Or, if that’s not what they want, we help them start new ones.”
“What do you mean, first?” I demanded, even though I was pretty sure I already knew the answer.
“Before we track down the guy in charge of this operation.”
Oh, I don’t think so. “That could take weeks! And also—”
“More like months,” Malcolm said.
I bared my teeth at him. He winked back. I shifted my focus to Rafe, who was obviously the leader of this little group of sexy guys.
“Look, I told you, I work alone. And while I’m glad those women are now free, my objective is to kill Ignacio. I don’t want anything to do with helping them get on with their lives.”
“That’s not how it works,” Ajax said. Pretty sure it was the first time he’d spoken directly to me since he tried to strangle me earlier. No, wait. He’d asked me to clarify when I said Ignacio was mine, like he was jealous or some shit. What the hell did he have to be jealous over?
I crossed my arms under my breasts, and ignored the way his gaze dropped before lifting to my eyes again. I forced myself to ignore the way my lady bits were doing a happy dance over the idea that he liked my breasts. Was there a heterosexual man alive who didn’t like boobs? So why was my traitorous body so pleased that this particular guy found mine attractive?
“Listen, big guy—”

Justice Loses Her League
The Demigods Trilogy Book 2

Picture
My name is Justice. I’m a demigod, and my otherwise immortal life is hanging by a thread. Oh, I also have not one but three mates, although our status isn’t “official” yet. Something about rituals and ceremonies. Don’t ask me—I’m clueless about this new world I find myself in.

Yeah, in order to save my life, Ajax, the strong one, Rafe, the conniving one, and Malcolm, the easygoing one, have taken me to the Realm of Gods.

There’s no electricity, no cell phones, the bartenders are sirens, and togas are the current fashion statement.

Everybody’s suspicious of everyone else, with good reason. This place brings our magic close to the surface, but there’s so much else going on—none of it good—that it may make more sense to go back to the human world and forget all about mating and magic and the other stuff that goes along with it.

Except I’m grievously injured and I can’t travel until I’m healed, which means we’re going to have to figure out how to get along in this strange new world, at least for a little while…

Justice Loses her League is the second book in the Demigods Trilogy. It is intended for mature audiences: 18+ readers only! It contains adult language and sexual situations. This is a fast-burn romance where the girl gets all the guys.

Why choose?

The Demigods Trilogy should be read in order. If you haven’t checked out Justice and Her League, I strongly suggest you read it before proceeding.

“Would you like some water?” Rafe asked.
Without waiting for an answer, he strode across the room to a small shelf, lifted a pitcher, and poured clear liquid into a glass before returning and offering it to me.
His longish dark hair was mussed, his perpetual stubble thicker and scruffier than normal. There were new lines around his eyes that hadn’t been there before the attack. Before I’d been shot.
He was still dressed in the T-shirt and cargo pants he’d been wearing when it happened. I had no idea whether that had occurred hours or days ago. Considering how healed I was, I assumed it had been days, at least. I tended to heal faster than your average human, but a gunshot wound was a pretty severe injury.
I accepted Rafe’s peace offering and took a grateful drink. My side twinged only a little when I lifted my arm. Another day and I’d probably feel it only if I tried to do sit-ups or pull-ups, neither of which were on my to-do list.
At the moment, there was only one thing on that list.
“So now that they’re gone…” I started, watching him.
He dropped wearily onto the side of the bed and rested his elbows on his thighs. “I did what I did to save your life.”
“I get that, and I appreciate it, obviously. But I still don’t understand why this was your first choice.” I waved at the white on white-on-white room. “I never even knew this place existed, and you went straight to ‘take Justice to the land of the gods.’”
“You knew it existed. You knew your father lived here.”
“Sure, but I didn’t know where here was. I still don’t. Are we even on Earth?”
“It’s hard to explain. Basically, we are in a different realm. Like a parallel universal, I guess. You can only get back and forth between the two realms through a portal, and only someone who possesses magic can summon one.”
“Okay, I can accept that.” I didn’t recall getting here, as I’d been unconscious, but that was good to know so I knew how to get home. Or at least the process required.
“But?”
“Why did you involve my father? You know how I feel about him.”
Rafe shook his head. “I didn’t involve him, not intentionally. I only meant to get you here because I knew a god, a full god, could save you. I didn’t think it through beyond that. When we stepped through the portal, your father was waiting. I don’t know how or why. He was just there.”
That was something I’d file away to ask my father about later. Although I was in no hurry to see him again, I had no doubt I would get so lucky. “Now, explain why he is so intent on us not formally mating.”
Rafe’s entire body went rock hard, and not in the I’m-about-to-feel-real-good way.
“So clearly you know something I don’t. And I’m betting Malcolm and Ajax don’t either,” I said.
Rafe turned, pulling his leg up onto the bed so that he faced me. “I don’t suppose you’d take ‘it’s complicated’ as an answer?”

In League With Justice
The Demigods Trilogy Book 3

Picture
Secrets, lies, deceit… My name is Justice and it’s just another Tuesday for me and my three mates.

Rafe has gone missing. Malcolm doesn’t want to find him. Ajax thinks we can come into our magic without him.
I just want my family back together. All of them. Even if we aren’t sure who Rafe really is.

As if that weren’t enough, the gods are at war and me and my guys are smack dab in the middle of the conflict.

Will we ever catch a break?

In League With Justice is the final book in the Demigods Trilogy, and yes, there is a happy ending. It is intended for mature audiences: 18+ readers only! It contains adult language and sexual situations. This is a fast burn romance where the girl gets all the guys.

What inspired you to write this book?

This series is the first “why choose” romance I’ve written. Honestly, it wasn’t something I’d ever planned to do. But after publishing more than thirty books under my other pen name (Tami Lund), I realized my Amazon page and my website were starting to look “messy.” I’ve been writing both paranormal and contemporary romance under that pen name, and we all know those are two very different genres. I wanted to make it easier for readers to find the type of book they were looking for from me, so I decided it was time to split my personalities into two pen names.

Since TJ Bell was starting from scratch, I wanted to make a bang with the first book(s) she released. Well, “why choose” romance certainly packs a whole lot of punches, doesn’t it?

What can we expect from you in the future?

Oh, I have so much in store for you! The final book in the Demigods series releases in October, and then the story will be complete. (Or will it…?) In November, I’m releasing a bear shifter book, Bear With Me, that’s part of a shared world called Corporate Shifters. It was supposed to be about a shifter who forsakes his pack and joins the corporate human world, but it also turned into a rejected mates storyline, so that’s cool.

After that is another rejected mates book, Once Rejected, Twice Shy, which should release in February, 2023. I haven’t quite finished writing this one yet because it has now morphed into high fantasy as well as rejected mates, because oh yes, I tend to write by the seat of my pants, and I almost never know where, precisely, these books are going to take me until we’re well on our way. I’m super excited about it, though, and can’t wait to share it with the world!

After that, in June, July, and August, I’m releasing a three-book series that is yet another new genre for me, but one I’ve wanted to dive into for some time now. I’ll be releasing a “why choose,” alien romance trilogy. Yep, sci fi romance, here I come!

Lastly, for 2023, I’m putting out a mermaid romance, which should be released in October, 2023. I’ve also been working on a faery series, but I don’t yet know if I’ll have enough time to finish it and get it released next year. Oh, and it looks like I may be writing a monster academy romance, probably for 2024 release.

So, yeah, lots to come from TJ Bell!

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

My favorite “why choose” romances include a badass heroine (truly, any book I read, I want/need a badass heroine, but they do seem to be prevalent in “why choose” books), so of course I was excited to be able to write a no-holds-barred badass myself. Most of my heroines are strong and confident, but I pushed myself with this one and decided she would be an anti-hero who would need to grow and make some hard decisions if this whole four-people-in-the-same-relationship concept was going to work.

It was also fun writing three heroes with three different personalities. I got to take my favorite aspects of a hero and work them into each one of Justice’s guys. And since it’s paranormal, I had a great deal of freedom to create what is actually two entirely different worlds between which my cast bounce back and forth. I enjoyed writing this series so much that there is a strong possibility of a spinoff series that will involve some of the supporting characters who are introduced….

What did you edit out of this book?

This is a funny question to me, because, as I write this, I am still wrapping up final edits for the third book in the Demigods series (which releases on October 14). My editor suggested I delete an entire chapter because, ultimately, it didn’t move the story forward. It contained information that was pertinent to the story, but could easily be worked into other places, and, in fact, one particular discovery during that chapter was anti-climactic because it was too soon to reveal that bit of information.

What was also contained in that chapter was a super-hot sex scene that was possibly my favorite in all of the three books. So, yes, my editor was absolutely right in her recommendation; I just had a hard time letting go of that one scene.

What are your top 10 favorite books/authors?

Birthright by Nora Roberts
The Buchanan/FBI series by Julie Garwood
Katie McAllister’s dragon series (all of them, although Drake and Asling are forever my faves)
Alysa Day’s The Warriors of Poseidon series
Kimberly Kincaid’s The Intelligence Unit and Station Seventeen series’

And that, I believe, is far more than ten. Oops!

How long have you been writing?

I have a handwritten story in a notebook under my bed. It’s about a girl who loves to ride horses. I was eleven when I wrote it. It was never published, for obvious reasons, which would become painstakingly apparent if you ever read it.

I’ve been published since 2010, so I’ve been writing professionally for twelve years. And yes, my published books are far, far better than that horse story. Everybody has to start somewhere, right?

Do you read yourself and if so what is your favorite genre?

I do read, a lot. I believe an author should also be an avid reader. I think it helps us hone our skills. Plus, I enjoy it. My favorite genres are romantic suspense and paranormal, which I suppose explains why I write those genres.

Taking genres out of the equation, probably the two things I like most in a book are a strong heroine and humor. I love friends-to-lovers and second-chance romance and a love triangle, if it’s done well (which is really, really hard to do). My all-time favorite love-triangle isn’t a book, it’s the movie, Sweet Home Alabama.

Do you prefer to write in silence or with noise? Why?

I like to write in solitude. That said, it doesn’t have to be quiet, per se. Just no one else around. And no television. I can’t concentrate if the TV is on. But I do, usually, have music on in the background while I’m writing. But yeah, leave me the hell alone while I’m crafting my stories, lol.

Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?

Oh, I always have several going at the same time. If I’m not on deadline, I’ll open whichever one the muse says she wants me to write at that moment. Sometimes, I’ll work on one in the morning and switch to another—in a completely different genre—in the afternoon.

When I’m on deadline, it’s harder, because Lord, that muse is loud in my head, but if she isn’t yelling at me to work on the book that’s due next, I have to force myself to ignore her. Right now is a perfect example.

Besides wrapping up these edits for the third book in the Demigods Trilogy, I have yet another book due to my editor in a week, and I would like to give it one more read-through before handing it over. And then I have another due to her in December, and I haven’t even finished writing it yet. Oh, and another due to her in February, which I haven’t even started writing yet! (I’m giving myself hives just writing all this down.)

Needless to say, I am currently ignoring my muse, who has all sorts of suggestions for the next project she’d like me to work on…

TJ Bell is the naughtier alter-ego of romance author Tami Lund (although you should totally read Tami Lund’s book too, because they are really, really good). She writes paranormal, all the time. Her heroines are tough, even if they are broken, and her heroes tend to have a heart of gold under all that alpha. Hell, sometimes they aren’t even alpha at all; after all, who doesn’t love a solid beta hero?

When she isn’t writing snarky, steamy books, TJ Bell likes to take long walks on the beach with a tall glass of wine… oh wait, wrong bio. But still true.

TJ Bell lives in the (sometimes) beautiful state of Michigan, USA, where the weather is glorious approximately 30% of the time, with her even-more-snarky husband, snarky-in-training (and progressing impressively) teenage daughter, and her dog, Kaya, who wants to know if it’s dinnertime yet.

How long did it take you to write your book?

I'll tell you what, this storyline was just hammering away at my head, refusing to be denied, so the minute I sat down and started transferring it from my brain to the keyboard, I couldn't stop. My back didn't appreciate that--at all--but suffice to say, it didn't take long at all to get that first draft done.

Since it's a trilogy, and I needed to ensure there was continuity throughout all three books, well, that part took a lot longer. Seemed like every time I added something new to the final book, I had to go back and rewrite something in the first two books.

Ultimately, I'd say it took about six months to have all three books ready to be shipped off to the editor.
